It is widely believed that people hear only what they want to hear and there is no point in speaking and trying to make them figure out what's on your mind.

My aim, though, is exactly the same - I want to make them understand, make them feel my point of view and respect it,  just by using speech and mental power...

Hardly achievable? Yes. But still not impossible.
